The Live at Lakeview Summer Music Series sixth season started this week. The music is good but even if you’re not a great music lover, it’s worth it to go just for the scene.  Plus it’s free!  Free and fun, how can you resist?

Held on Thursdays at Lakeview Commons, the concerts start at 4:30 and offers an eclectic mix of music with something for every music fan.  There’s rock n roll, blues, funk, gypsy rock, latin, reggae, indie soul-hop, indie nova, and Americana.  Afrolicious, Mojo Green, Sol Pellgro, Diegos Umbrella, and the Sam Chase and the Untraditional will all be playing.   For the complete lineup of who’s playing when, click here.

So what makes this series so much fun?  First, there is the lake which makes a pretty spectacular backdrop.  The lake is so high, the stage looks like it’s floating and that’s pretty cool.  Second, a beer garden, food and craft vendors, and live art all add to the activity.  The tacos and empanadas are really good.  Third, there’s the people, who are also very entertaining.  Families, friends, enemies, everyone comes together for a bit to enjoy the casual good time.  Stand up paddle board rentals are available.  The parking  is limited, so it’s best to hike or bike.  A free bike valet will be on hand.  Extra parking can be found at the city Rec Center on Rufus Allen Drive.  You can walk through the campground and across the street.  You will have to leave Fido at home though.

Lakeview Commons is a great lakeside amphitheater in the middle of town that was created by the city.  It serves as a gathering place for the community and is located at the corner of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Lakeview Avenue.  The series starts on June 22 and runs through August 25th.  Come and hang out!
